A confidential and safe environment
I work from home which is situated in a peaceful, quiet and safe area within Walthamstow, London, E17. I strive to create a welcoming and safe environment for my clients to feel relaxed and comfortable to speak their mind freely, through maintaining my warm and non-judgmental attitude whilst minimising distractions during a session. In addition, I strongly value and strictly protect the confidentiality of all data and information with which my clients provide me, and I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Officer.
My non-judgmental acceptance and respect
I value every client as a person of worth unconditionally. I also respect everyone as a human being who deserves respect, so I accept every client non-judgmentally and support them with respect.
It may be worth mentioning that some people presume that I as a person-centred therapist will never challenge my clients, because of my theoretical emphasis on the value of unconditional positive regard of every client; this, however, is a misunderstanding. I am a warm, polite, caring, sensitive, compassionate and respectful person. Nevertheless, as a psychotherapist who is concerned with deeper layers of the client’s psychology, I can sometimes make a response which can be challenging to clients and yet, be inviting them to look at their issues from a new or different perspective. That is to say, for therapeutic purposes, I may sometime challenge clients, but still in a respectful manner.
Opportunities to explore and reflect
You are the owner of the time and process. You will have space and opportunities to explore whatever you want to and reflect on what you are experiencing, which would lead you to self-discovery and self-acceptance. This would help you to repair damage to your inner world and further to grow and expand your potential. Having said that, you should not feel pressured to keep talking in a session. Indeed, there may also be moments of silence which you may need for the time for your thoughts to sink in. If you want to stop speaking and have some break for thinking, this is absolutely fine with me – I am quite used to silence.
Experience of being really understood
As I mentioned in the ‘How I work’ page, I strive to maintain a commitment to understanding what my client is experiencing and how s/he is feeling, as if I were the client, from moment to moment. I also try to communicate actively such an empathic understanding of the client’s experiences and feelings in order that s/he can experience to be really heard and understood by me.
In-depth therapeutic relationship
One of the most important parts of my therapeutic work is to build a strong in-depth therapeutic relationship with each client of mine. It is because experience of such a relationship would help clients to recover or strengthen their self-healing process, in other words, to repair their identities, their self-image and their capacity to fully function and build successful relationships with others.
Therefore, you can expect to experience such a therapeutic relationship with me which will develop through the sessions. This relationship will be established and strengthened based on mutual trust between you and me; for this, I will trust you to possess the internal strength to grow and actualise, as well as I will listen to you attentively and stay emotionally available for you at all times during the session in order that you can trust me as your therapist.
